IMBOX200
A Secure IM Appliance, in the Physical Sense
U.K.-based ApplianSys Ltd.'s secure IM server is based on the Jabber platform.
The IMBOX200 is described by the company as the world's first IM server appliance for enterprise instant messaging (EIM) over a private network. The box, which ApplianSys also said is the most secure IM server appliance, operates behind an organization's firewall and has IPsec tunneling between distributed servers. The box also enables encrypted traffic between the client and server using SSL 128 bit technology.
IMBOX200 is provided in an appliance format, where the server has no open ports and runs with no unnecessary applications, the company also said. Because it uses a client/server architecture and is under the complete control of an organization's IT management, access and usage is controlled and is restricted to only authorized users.
Since IMBOX200 is built on the Jabber IM solution, it offers interoperability with other Jabber servers, in addition to public IM networks. Additionally, the box is based on XML, which means it can link into back-end systems.
